Management game

“The best team is not necessarily made up of the best individual players,
but rather the players which perform the best together. Getting the right mix
is the key here – the players must complement each other, not just in terms
of the game but also in their own motives and character.”
Consultant:
Matthias Jung, Wuppertal
Bernhard Peters, 49, Director of sport and young talent support at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim
He advocates emotional management in sport and in the economy, brings new ideas to football and since 2006 has played a key part in the success story of the sensational climber TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. Bernhard Peters coaches his boys by granting each player his individual attention. “I need to approach each player in the team differently. This is the only way to really discover all strengths and weaknesses of a team and promote the players individually.” This is a proven team building approach which Peters also used to win two men’s hockey world championships as national trainer several years ago – he writes more on this in his book “Führungsspiel” or “Management game”. Yet at home, his wife Britta is the coach. She brings everything together, manages his appointments, looks after their 4 children aged between 7 and 16 and also takes care of their personal finances. Once a year the Peters get together with their MLP consultant, Matthias Jung – “always in an atmosphere that is both creative and sincere,” comments Jung.
